Overall Gross
Ronda Henderson made it 14 state titles on her resume as she won the Overall Gross title.
Henderson also made it two straight state titles as she won last week’s gross title in the senior division of the 2024 Nevada State Women’s Amateur.
She said winning elite titles never gets old.
“It means a lot to win a tournament like this,” Henderson said. “And as the defending champ, it’s always my goal to try to defend a title. It’s incredibly difficult to do because everything has to work out perfectly.”
Well, it did for the first day. The second day was a different story.
“I had a five-shot lead after the first day,” she said. “It was a nice, easy two-over round. Today, I scrapped it around for a three-over 75. It was a lot tougher today.”
Especially on the last hole.
“Sometimess it gets a little tight,” she said with a laugh. “I had a pull-hook off the tee that went out of bounds. It wasn’t the way I wanted to end the tournament. I did manage to chip in for a bogey so I was fortunate there.”
The victory added to an already stellar 2024 for Henderson who now has six high-profile victories.
“This year has been pretty amazing,” she said. “I don’t know if I can top it. I feel very blessed.”
And to see her name on another high-profile trophy is something she doesn’t take for granted.
“It’s my third time on this trophy,” she said. “I look at the trophy and it’s really an honor to be among this group of elite women. It’s kind of surreal for me to be part of this group.”

Regina Quintero posted seven birdies over the two days, five natural and two net, in winning the Overall Net crown.
“If you win anything, it’s a good deal,” she said. “You always hope to win the gross title but any time you win a state event it’s a good thing.”
She added the tournament being a state title does add to the prestige.
“You always want to have your name on a trophy for a state tournament,” she said. “That’s the nice part of it. Because it is a state tournament, it’s that much tougher to win and it always means just a little bit more.”
She said her two days were different for her.
“Each day I had a couple of holes that cost me,” she said. “Overall, I hit the ball better the first day but didn’t putt well. Today I didn’t hit a lot of greens but got up and down pretty well.”
Quintero, who is still battling back from an arthiritis year, said her game is on the way back.
“I’m pretty happy with the way I hit the ball,” she said. “I just made some mistakes that cost me a stroke or two here and there but overall it was a pretty good couple of days.”
She also wanted to laud the NNGA…as well as the SNGA.
“Those guys work so hard to find us great courses to play this game,” she said. “I’m very appreciative with all the work they put in.”
