Northern Nevada Golfer Steve Sear Wins 2015 Nevada State Amateur
Steve Sear, a member at Thunder Canyon, won the 2015 Nevada State Amateur. Sear shot the lowest round of the final day, a 2-under par 70. The tournament was played at Thunder Canyon.
Sear ended the tournament with a 3-round total of 208 which was 8-under par. He was one of only four players who finished under par for the tournament.
Sear finished three strokes ahead of Northern Nevada Amateur Champion Josh Baskins, who was even on the day during the final round and ended the event at 5-under par. Jordan Wright struggled to a final round 75 but still finished in third place at 4-under par.
Northern Nevada players finished first, second and third in the tournament.
Shane Sigsbee, from the Southern Nevada Golf Association, was the only other player under par for the three rounds, finishing fourth at 213. All three rounds were delayed due to weather.
Reigning Nevada State Division I High School Champion Jack Trent finished in sixth place at one-over par followed by two-time Nevada State Amateur Champion Brady Exber, playing out of TPC Summlerin, who finished at 3-over par in seventh.
Multiple Nevada State Match Play champion David Nelson, playing out of Montreux Country Club, finished in eighth at 4-over par.
